Tomorrow will be hot. I've got lots of fans, and there should be water in the hallway.
What can your child expect on the first day?
- A hot, sparsely decorated room. (What decorations? you will ask.)
- The stress of a new schedule
- A new teacher with unfamiliar ways
- A story to begin living within
- PE, Math, Library, Reading, Writing, and maybe Science
What can your child bring?
MUSTS
- One well-rested child. Preferably between 7:50 and 8:00, with breakfast already eaten!
- Shoes appropriate for PE!
VERY NICE TO HAVE:
- A bottle for water.
- A backpack or sturdy grocery bag that will fit in a thin locker.
- A folder.
- A pen or pencil.
- Headphones or ear buds.
- An engaging book to read.
- A smile for everyone.
CONSIDER (now or later):
- Bag lunch.
- A snack - IF your child absolutely won't make it until 11:45.
- A favorite pen or pencil.
- A pencil bag.
- A scissors that fits your child's hand.
- A composition notebook (consider college-ruled!).
- A grid composition notebook.
- Other supplies from the list.
PLEASE DO NOT BRING:
- Ice or flavored beverages in water bottle.
- Sugary or messy snacks.
- Toys and other distractions.
- Unnecessary or distracting school supplies, like Sharpies.
What can you expect at the end of the day?
- A hot, tired FIFTH grader
- Lots of papers to fill out
What will you NOT see at the end of the day?
- Homework. That will come! And what comes will all be optional - YOU are in charge!
When can I meet the teacher?
- You can meet me at the classroom any school day between 2:30 pm and 2:45 pm. If you would like to talk more than five minutes, please schedule ahead. I am NOT available to meet before or during classes.
Looking forward to seeing new faces tomorrow!
Jonathon (AKA Mr. Fischer)
